Las Vegas Trauma Therapy
Trauma is a different experience for each person, even when people have the same experiences. The process of trauma is brutal and can leave a lasting mark on our identity but it doesn’t have to take over your life. You are not your trauma – you can heal.
Trauma is related to anxiety but is often more pervasive and longer-lasting than temporary feelings of anxiety. Trauma tends to get stuck in our mind, causing us to perceive the remembered threat on a continual basis, and it feels like there’s no off-button. This memory lives on in our bodies and our brains, keeping our natural sympathetic nervous system response constantly engaged in a fight-or-flight response with fear front and center. This can lead to a major disruption in everyday routines, making it difficult to sleep, concentrate, or find a way to move forward.
When we experience trauma, we experience moral injury as well. When our most basic sense of right and wrong is violated, trauma is heightened. The attack on our morals is just as important to work through as the trauma itself.
Sometimes, trauma can occur even if there has not been an external event. If left unchecked, our own stress and anxiety can compound to the point of being totally overwhelmed, and lead to trauma all the same.
Treating Trauma with Therapy
Whether it was a single event or a series of events over time, trauma can have a serious impact on our whole sense of self and overall life experience. Trauma therapy sessions can help you reframe your experience and improve your coping mechanisms, making life a little bit easier to handle post-trauma.
If you’re looking for trauma therapy, we can work together to learn about your unique trauma and help you find a way to once again feel safe and secure. From that point, we are able to help you expand outward with new ways of adjusting to life through dealing with your trauma in a non-threatening and non-judgmental way.
At Headway inSight, we believe that everyone is different, and therapy techniques should be tailored to you, the client, rather than the other way around. In our interactive, personalized trauma therapy sessions, we’ll work together to release the trauma so that you can move forward and feel whole again. Even if you’ve struggled in the past, we can help you find new ways to reframe your trauma and reduce your body’s natural sympathetic nervous system response so that you can regain a greater sense of control and peace of mind.
